Thick Homemade Ranch Sauce (Easy Pantry Recipe)
This thick homemade ranch sauce is a must-have in my fridge at all times. It's incredibly versatile and works in so many different recipes. Made with simple pantry herbs and basic ingredients, it comes together in under 10 minutes. It's perfect as a dip for fresh veggies or crispy french fries and it makes a perfect base for those viral ranch recipes everyone loves.Â
If you're looking for a from-scratch ranch that's rich, creamy and not watered down or filled with hard-to-pronounce ingredients, this is the one to make.Â
When it comes to the ingredients, I always see recipes as a guideline rather than a strict rule book. Don't be afraid to adjust, experiment, and make it your own. That's part of the fun of cooking from scratch.Â
You can absolutely make your own mayonnaise, and I try to source our sour cream and milk locally when possible. Sometimes I use 2% milk , sometimes half-and-half, whatever is in the fridge at the time. Nothing goes to waste around here!
If you'd rather use fresh herbs instead of dried, that works beautifully as well. I often keep it simple with dried herbs when I'm short on time or juggling a busy day.Â
Recipe - Thick Homemade Ranch Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp dill
- 1 tsp parsley
- 2 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a quart jar.
- Shake until smooth and fully combined.Â
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.Â
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.Â
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir before serving as natural separation may occur.
If you prefer a thinner ranch dressing, just add a couple tablespoons at a time until you reach your desired consistency. For best results, let the ranch chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before adjusting the thickness as it will naturally thicken as it rests.Â
