Frozen Greek Yogurt Protein Bites

Frozen Greek Yogurt Protein Bites

Jump to Recipe

There are two moments when I find myself craving something sweet and refreshing. Late at night, when cravings hit, or on a really hot summer day when I need something to cool me down. In those moments I want a snack that can satisfy that sweet tooth but also feel a little more filling and nourishing then just grabbing a dessert or an ice cream bar.

These frozen Greek yogurt bites quickly became one of my favorites. They're naturally sweet from the fruit, creamy from the yogurt and packed with a bit of protein that helps keep you satisfied.

One of the things I love about this recipe is how flexible it is. You can use whatever fruit happens to be in season or that you have sitting in your fridge. Strawberries and bananas have been my favorites so far but the possibilities are almost endless.

If the mixture isn't sweet enough for your taste, simply add a little extra honey or try maple syrup instead for a slightly different flavor. You can also change the size and shape depending on the molds you use. Try using popsicle-style molds to turn them into yogurt lollies instead.

They're simple to make, easy to keep stocked in the freezer, and perfect when you want a quick snack that feels like a treat.

Recipe - Frozen Greek Yogurt Protein Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 9% Greek yogurt
  • 1.5 cups fruit of your choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 scoops (39 g) vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

  1. Prepare your molds. Set silicone molds on a baking tray so they can easily be transferred to the freezer.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt, fruit of your choice, and all remaining ingredients into a bender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour the blended mixture into a large measuring cup or other container with a spout that will be easy to pour out of, or simply spoon it into the molds.
  4. Fill each mold evenly with the yogurt mixture.
  5. Transfer your tray to the freezer and freeze for 2-3 hours, or until completely firm.
  6. Pop the bites out of the molds and store them in a freezer safe container.

Notes

Silicone molds work best for this recipe because the bites pop out easily once frozen. Remember to place the molds on the baking trays BEFORE filling as they will be extremely hard to transfer after they have been filled.

Strawberries and bananas both blend very smoothly, but you can try any soft fruit. Raspberries, blueberries, mango or peaches. For the best flavor results try using a fruit that is currently in season.

Thick high percent Greek yogurt is going to give you the smoothest, softest texture. It also adds extra protein. If you can't find 9% I'd recommend using the highest percent you can find.

Store the frozen yogurt bites in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Let them sit at room temperature for a minute or two before eating.
